| SOUTH BEND - Arthur "Junior" Hardy, 83, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2009, in Memorial Hospital of South Bend, IN. He was born on June 20, 1926, in Bremen, IN, to Arthur R. and Laura (Mentzel) Hardy Sr. Arthur was a 1943 graduate of Bremen High School, a retired supervisor with NIPSCO after 38 years and was a U.S. Army WWII veteran serving in the Philippines. He was also a lifetime member of the Bremen VFW and past member of the Bremen Masonic Lodge. On December 30, 1964, Arthur married Dolores (Fregia), who survives in South Bend. Also surviving are sons, Dennis Hardy of Lakeville and Matthew Hardy of Seattle, WA, two daughters, Cheryl (Jim) Bellman of Bremen and Vicki Maust of Mishawaka; eight grandchildren, Jamie Bellman, Bryan Bellman, Kari Jernigan all of Bremen, Angela Hardy of Colorado, Scott Hardy of Colorado, Mike Mandino of Terre Haute, Jason Hardy of Chicago and Billy Maust of South Bend; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Mary Capron. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009, in the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen, with Pastor Gary Hinkle officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2009, in the funeral home. Burial will be at Bremen Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. The Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen is assisting the family with arrangements.
